Damn! I am one hard-core runner myself! I ran 5 more miles after receiving this life-threatening wound. I am a serious, determined, nothing-can-stop-me, hard-core runner!
I tripped on the sidewalk. The fall was executed in slow motion. I fell forward (of course) and used my hands to break my fall (of course.) I let my left elbow bend and tucked my chin down. My momentum carried me over my shoulder into a beautiful martial arts type of roll that ended with me sitting up looking at my hands. And the blood and the loose flappy skin. Eewww gross! I was a mile from home and after a few moments of thought decided to continue on. I did make sure to deduct a good 30 seconds from my total time to account for the fall and post-fall ruminations. There were no witnesses.
So how was the week? Fine. Nothing to speak of except my spectacular fall. 17.3 miles, 9:24 pace. Same pace a last week. Probably would have been better but I was slow on my Long Slow Distance run. Which I actually now officially have, btw. 6 miles this week. 7 next. And after subtracting the 30 seconds for my fall, it was right at about 10:00 per mile. I suppose that's OK right now for a Long Slow Distance run.
Al, Tara, Meg - I didn't have a single Peep!!! (I only looked for them in the store once and I didn't look very hard.) Lots of chocolate. No Peeps. Apart from that, Food as a 7.
Didn't do the Brazil Butt Lift dvds though. Exercise was a 6 or 7.
Lets go with 7 since I was a bad-@ss.

You definitely are hard-core woman :) I was just telling my husband yesterday that sometimes, when I'm a little more tired, my feet sort of catch and I worry that I might go tumbling forward. Now, I see it's a real possibility, so I plan on trying to make sure I keep my feet up!
This is why I'm always looking down on my run. To make sure I don't trip. It started because the track I run on has potholes on it. But now it is habit.
And I know exactly where I would fall if I did.
I hope your hand is worse than it looks. I hope you are ok. LOL that there were no witnesses. I would have had a school out at recess or something.
i am ALWAYS scared of falling on my face and eating pavement! i'm glad your okay!!!
Forgive me, but I just laughed hard that you decided to go on & "...did make sure to deduct a good 30 seconds from my total time to account for the fall and post-fall ruminations. There were no witnesses."
Sounds fair to me, HA! (Glad you weren't hurt badly, so I can laugh, right?) I run mostly on dirt roads, so a bit of loose gravel underfoot on a downhill makes me nervous about taking a digger myself... only I would not tuck & roll as gracefully as you did! I'm more of a "slide into third base" belly-flop sorta gal.
That roll sounded like it was beautifully executed....a curtsy at the end woulda sufficed...
way to also finsih out the run...skin heals...but finishing is foreva!!!
